I love Sundays. It was a thought I had Sunday morning as I arose to no alarm at 10:35 a.m., ate a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, brewed a fresh cup of coffee and watched some cheap horror flicks on TV.
An hour had passed and I was updating my fantasy football roster before the first wave of Sunday football came on at 1 p.m. Besides booking my Thanksgiving travel home to NH (I couldn’t be more excited!), it has been a blissfully unproductive Sunday and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Since I follow a pretty jam-packed schedule throughout the week (my Google calendar will make you go cross-eyed), it’s nice to have one day a week free of obligation. I try to make that day Sunday.
Last night, I went to a Halloween party at the chapel on campus. It was animated character themed so given my Russian language and study abroad background I decided to attend as Dimitri from Anastasia. If you haven’t seen it, Anastasia is a nineties animated film set in Russia following a plot that incorporates real and fictional characters.
By chance, there ended up being two girls at the party dressed as Anastasia which made my costume easier to interpret by association.
I’ll let you judge how well I pulled the costume off.
Here’s the real — well, animated, thing.
The party was a lot of fun. There were some pretty great costumes including a Bender robot costume from the TV show, Futurama, Snow White and the 7 dwarfs, Cruella, Powerpuff girls, Superman, Calvin and Hobbs, and Woody, to name a few.
I have a flag football game at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon. I play flag football in an intramural sports league here at Mason. If you haven’t heard, Mason offers a range of intramural sports leagues during every season. I love it. It’s perfect for those, like myself, who love competing and playing sports with the burden of a daily practice schedule or long-term commitment.
Flag football is especially fun for me since I never played organized football when I was younger and now, with intramurals, I’m able to play quarterback for my intramural team. At 1-1, today is a pretty big game for us since we’ve only got a few games before playoffs start.
Ah well we did win our football game, 21-0! It was quite the satisfying win. As I return to finish this post I am finishing my Sunday with some reading and catchup on work in a few of my classes. I’m trying to get as much as I can get done early so I can devote adequate time to study for my Geology test mid-week.
I’m not fully privy to the college application process anymore but I imagine you all must be getting your college apps in at a pretty rapid rate at this point? Early action at least?
Wherever you are in the process, I wish you well and please feel free to ask me any questions you might have.
